Content Workflow / Process Map
A content workflow maps every stage in the production pipeline, the role responsible at each stage, the criteria for moving to the next, and any parallel review tracks (legal, brand, subject-matter expert). Making the workflow explicit surfaces where work actually stalls, usually review queues and approval gates, and gives everyone a shared vocabulary for discussing bottlenecks.
The defined stages a piece passes through from idea to published.

When to use this
- When content gets stuck and no one can explain where, the piece is 'in review' with no accountable owner.
- To clarify role distinctions between writers, editors, subject matter experts, and approvers.
- When scaling a content team or adding external contributors who lack institutional knowledge of the process.
